Located in Northmead, NSW, the Wellbeing and Respite Day Care Centre provides a range of allied health and rehabilitation programs. We individually assess all our clients to provide a program tailored to their requirements, addressing physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial issues.

Health and rehabilitation programs include:

• Rehabilitation following joint replacements or orthopaedic conditions
• Rehabilitation for clients who need exercise therapy
• Falls prevention program
• Health promotion services
• Exercise services such as gym classes 
• Hydrotherapy classes 
• Enhanced Primary Care Services for chronic and complex health care
• Outpatient Services for Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy

Respite

Much of our ageing population relies on family members and friends to support and care for them. At Australian Unity, we recognise that there is an increasing need for carers to receive some well earned respite. Our Respite Centre gives carers much needed ‘time out’ whilst their loved one is looked after by friendly, professional health care workers.

While carers have respite time, the people they care for can enjoy:

• Delicious meals
• Social, leisure and lifestyle activities like shopping trips and visits to the movies
• A range of fun indoor activities and games
• Self development programs to help people achieve goals or learn new skills
• Physical health promotion including walking groups and yoga 
• Fun and beneficial exercise programs and fitness assessments 
• Rehabilitation programs for any rehabilitation treatment that is required

Both carers and the people they are caring for can choose to enjoy the following services:

• Wellbeing services to relax with such as facials, massages and hairdressing
• Convenient and reliable transport to and from your home
  Exercise

Transport

A bus service is available for a small fee, with the service extending to within a 7 kilometre radius of the centre.

Fees

The Wellbeing and Respite Day Care Centre is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing National Respite for Carers Program, with a daily client contribution and a small additional fee if the transport service is used.

Exercise physiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, diet therapy, a rehabilitation specialist and a general practitioner are available onsite for consultation.  Charges apply, but Medicare and private health rebates may be claimable.

Additional wellbeing services, including hairdressing, beauty therapy and massage, will incur an extra fee for service from both the carer and care recipient. Please note that not all services may be available at all times.
